Community advocate passionate about making affordable housing possible for all through financial literacy. Elian worked in the banking industry for 16 years as a leading bilingual mortgage expert. She applied her knowledge, skills and most importantly, her passion, to helping low-income families become home-owners when she worked as Director of Client Services at Tulsa Habitat for Humanity for the past 3 years and led the organization in becoming a HUD-certified financial literacy educator. Now at Starcity Homes, she oversees the company's trade/vendor partnerships, remodel projects, and special projects surrounding creative rentership and homeownership models. My passion for home design has led her to remodel homes personally, for the last 15 years. She was born in Venezuela and immigrated to the United States in 1996. As an immigrant, cancer survivor, wife and mother Elian has known struggles big and small. Elian especially understand the plight of immigrants going through the difficult period of adjustment. Elian is personally vested in their financial success. Elian Hurrado also serves as the Vice Chair of Tulsa Authority of Economic Opportunities (TAEO), a single, independent organization to lead the City of Tulsa’s community and economic development efforts.
